The MikroTik KNOT is a universal IoT gateway at USD 99.00 — NB-IoT/CAT-M cellular, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, PoE-in, and passive PoE-out in a single DIN-rail-mountable enclosure running RouterOS v7. MikroTik's own framing: "bring flexible low-cost connectivity to the most remote or tricky areas."
**NB-IoT / CAT-M cellular — low-cost, low-bandwidth wide-area connectivity**
The KNOT uses Narrow Band and CAT-M cellular technology — supported by countless mobile operators globally, including Canadian carriers. NB/CAT-M monthly data plans cost significantly less than LTE — suited for deployments transmitting only a few megabytes per day: vending machines, temperature sensors, liquid level monitors, electricity meters, and remote relay control. One Nano SIM slot. CAT-M and GPS interfaces both use SMA female connectors — supports external antenna attachment.
**Modbus TCP bridge — wired sensors to cloud**
Converts RS485 Modbus protocol to TCP — enables wired Modbus sensors (electricity meters, relays, industrial sensors) to forward readings to a Modbus server over cellular or Ethernet without a separate protocol converter.
**Bluetooth 5.2 — BLE asset tracking and telemetry**
Supports any BLE tag sending advertisement packets — iBeacon, Eddystone, or any proprietary format. Powerful packet filters forward only relevant BLE data to the TCP/IP network via HTTPS or MQTT.
